Pop-up for Password Change

Post by kayheem »

Recently, I am greeted with a pop-up asking me to change my password whenever I logout of Singastro. It says my password is going to expire in 9431 days.

Is this an attempt to phish for info by some malicious software, or is this a bug?

Does anyone else face this problem?

i don't think singastro has any setting for password to expire...maybe the admin can clarify on this? it does look like you have some problem with your browser. have you tried clearing your browser cache?
I am using netscape 4.76, netscape 7.2, IE, Firefox and Opera and non of them give me any problems...

I am using the latest Firefox. Based on what CC and Rich says, I will run Ad-aware to scan my computer.

Hi Kay Heem, Chee Chien and Airconvent,

I had that pop-up during logout too. I simply ignored it... and I remembered it also mentioned that I will be able to change my password at the next log-in. So far, I did not change my password (yet).

I am using a browser called Orca Browser (it uses the Gecko rendering engine, same as Firefox browser).

these kind of problems are usually related to the browser or some settingsthat have been saved. I suggest if the clearing of cache does not work, to uninstall the whole application, delete the entire folder in program files and reinstall.

currently the best, fastest and safest browser is actually Opera and not Firefox based on some survey and analysis done on its performance. and best of all, Opera is now free too!

Perhaps you can set your browser to block pop-ups?

BTW, after my Firefox was updated to ver 1.5.0.2 yesterday, I could not submit posts in Singastro. I have to use IE6 now. Anyone with similiar problems?

Cheers!

I know from Yong Quan that Singastro's design is actually IE-optimised. That is why that row of links at the portal page can never display correctly on Netscape. Anyway, can always try Opera or Netscape 8. BTW, I have that installed too but feel more comfortable using Netscape 7.2! heh heh
Netscape 8 has the dual engine feature in which you can switch between firefox or IE engine...

Tachyon, this is to help you, I'm posting via foxy 1.5.0.2 also. If you can see this, it's prolly your foxy settings, cos mine works.

I already have headaches trying to make my webpages look nice in Internet Explorer and Firefox together, so opera being a small player will get out of my mind for now. I think the new 1.5 foxy runs abit faster already, but i'm comparing with my 1.0 last update...

When i check singastro in camp on internet explorer there's no popup for password change leh, but as far as the description up there goes i don't think it's phishing or adware. It's probably some setting in firefox? Can't confirm cos when i use firefox at home i don't logout :P
