Has anyone else been bothered by the numerous "unwelcome" posts lately? :)

I think it's got to do with the fact that the Subject has the word "Naked" in it. :)

Anyway, since this is the feedback corner, I would like to suggest that the registration process be "robot proof". You know when they show a picture of jumbled words and numbers and you're supposed to enter them?

I'm not sure if it's in place now, but just a suggestion. :)

Thanks!

Hi Jeremy

The image-verification is already in place but bots such as xrumer are getting around it. I have had to manually delete up to 10 bot sign-ups and a few spams every day.

Anyone can help to solve this problem?

Just shows Singastro is getting very popular...a few years back no one disinterested in astronomy would even be remotely interested in us!
Maybe apart from the jumbled words, we can ask a simple question like "Name the 9th planet!". Then it depends whether the bot is IAU aware or not..heh heh

and thanks to CC for cleaning them up..

Well Rich thanks for the suggestion :) asking an astro-related question is a good idea but I need a php expert to implement it :)

That's a good suggestion ... :)

Anyway, Richard, I don't think these people are "advertising" here cos it's SingAstro ... :) Even if we have a diaper forum with the word Naked in the subject and alot of pics and posts in the thread, you'll get the same SPAM. :)

The mods, in particular Weixing, have been helping to clean up the forums too, thanks! :)

Volunteers to help solve this problem?
