Greeting from another newbie

Post by jo3f »

Hi All, I'm new in this forum and astronomy.

But I always interested with astronomy things i.e moon, planets, eclipse, and anything about this vast universe.
I always amazed when I saw photos of galaxies.

I just bought a binocular few days ago, I can't stand to try out use it outside in a clear dark sky.
And according to the weather forecast it's gonna be cloudy or raining in these few days T_T

No no, you got it wrong. Its not JUST Singapore weather. Is the new scope curse! After I bought my 4" refractor I had to wait 3 months to use it! Don't worry, just wait for a clearing in the rain and things will be good. In fact seeing is often the best after a storm and binos are quick to deploy
DON'T PANIC

Wow... 3 months? That's a long wait for the first try out. I appreciated your patience :)
In the meantime I just browse this forum and reading some books maybe, to make me more familiar with the star chart.

Welcome to Singastro jo3f!
The good thing about Binos are they are very portable and easy to use without any setup. Scorpius is coming back and so are all the bino objects in the galactic centre region. Wait patiently or the clear skies to come...or drop by Astro-scientific for a Therapeutic experiece amidst all the scopes...:)

Hi Jo3f. Welcome to the forum!

Hang in there, clear skies will come sooner or later. Play around with Stellarium (http://www.stellarium.org) and read some books on Binocular Astronomy to get yourself prepared in the meantime.

Here are some books on Binocular Astronomy. Kinokuniya at Taka may carry some of them.

Binocular Highlights: 99 Celestial Sights for Binocular Users (Sky & Telescope Stargazing)

Oh drop by to the shop at this moment just make me more tempting to buy hahaha
Anyway last night i had a chance to used my bino :P Around 9pm to 11 pm the sky is quite dark and clear.

For a newbie like me, the first object that I can see clearly of course the biggest object at the sky, Moon.
Only with help of Google sky map on my phone, I can spotted Mars, Sirius and a few constellation which is I not familiar with. Its only like a small dot look through 10x50mm bino.
And I think I spotted Saturn also, not very sure about that.
