Is it Jupiter?

Post by Kelvgoh »

Hi all, I was at my carpark 'top storey' when I noticed an extremely bright object in the sky. So I took out my Iphone and used the GOSKYWATCH app and it says that the bright object is in fact Jupiter? Is that correct? Because if it is, I would be very happy! Super excited for the answer.

Most definitely yes! if the sky was clear enough, you should also see a very tight bunch of 5-7 stars below jupiter naked eyes. Then, below them and a bit to your right, the great Orion Constellation and its beautiful bunch of stars and nebula at the dagger area. All before our own Star rises. Keep the excitement alive!

welcome, you have seen your first self-aware naked eye planet !
Saturn should be easy to spot too although not as bright. Look for bright Acturus and Spica and the third bright "star" in the vicinity is Saturn!
