Happy "Un-boxing" Day!

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Happy "Un-boxing" Day!

Post by harlequin2902 »

Bought a used classic Takahashi FC76 off a Japanese owner recently.

Having owned a very nice TeleVue Pronto in the past, I had originally targeted a used TeleVue 76 apo that was shorter and much more portable but this offer came up and I found it very hard to resist the 'fluorite' plus Takahashi's revered status worldwide.

A well cared for scope that came very meticulously packed! I wanted to do an unboxing video but gave up in the end

Nevertheless, a very timely unboxing affair on boxing day for me :mryellow:

Here are some photos to share:

Here's the scope mounted on a DSV-M on Manfrotto 055 tripod:

And here it is, GOTO-enabled on the Nexstar mount:

And finally, a love letter from the previous owner:

All in all, I'm very satisfied with the purchase experience, paid on 21 Dec and received it at my door today, 26 Dec via EMS.

Hope to take it out for first light this evening!

Thanks to GRS for loaning the DSV-M head and dovetail rail for me to mount the scope :D

Heard alot of nice stuff about buying from Japan because they generally take very good care of their stuff.
Congrats on your new "wife"..haha. Just make sure to keep it in a dry box this time round! BTW, how much did you pay for the scope and what was the shipping cost?
Clear skies tonight, so we will expect a report from you tomorrow! :P

Yes, need to find proper storage for this. And also a way to carry it around other than downstairs to my observing spots near my home.

The OTA's quite long (and thick - about 90mm diameter) and can't fit into my dry cab.

This cost S$1,800 in total. Shipping was only about S$80.

The whole process was very smooth and fast. I made payment on 21 Dec, seller sent it out on 22 Dec, and I got it this morning.
