Mirror shift/flop on SCT, What you say?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Mirror shift/flop on SCT, What you say?

Post by hhzhang »

Am considering a purchase of SCT either conventional or EdgeHD/ACF. It is an attractive option -- for the same aperture, the weight is lower (friendly to my EQ mount) and the cost is much more friendly, and the provision of focal flatterner+ reducers by original manufacturer or Starizona alike also adds much to the versatility.

But I am quite worried about the mirror shift and flop problems. How do you go around it?

will adding an external focusser like crayford focusser behind the optical path work for SCT? that will reduce the need to use the traditional focusser which moves the mirror.

A very comprehensive article. Thanks!

It is just that the SCT has been no stock for a long time.
