Hi spenchew. Welcome to the forum! Hope you managed to make it and enjoyed yourself.

Thanks to Dave for organising the event and everyone who came. It has been a while since I went back to Bishan Park. Reminded again how open the sky view is even from McDonald's.

With 3 telescopes deployed, we had good interaction with the crowd - phone photography, reading star maps, sharing astrophotos taken in Singapore. Saw Moon, Mars, Jupiter and main attraction - Saturn in opposition! Big Dipper and Crux was very clear despite the existing local light pollution. Nice to see star cluster NGC 6231, mizar/alcor, alpha centauri. Overall, sky transparency is quite good but seeing only average. The public enjoyed the views nonetheless.

A light drizzle came very suddenly around midnight. Thankfully, we are near McDonald's and have enough manpower to escort our equipment to safety.

Had wonderful supper at nearby 24hr hawker centre and enjoyed the chit chat session.

Hi Dave,

When do you intend to organize another sidewalk session? I have a C8 which I am dying to share with the public! Although knowledge wise I still think I have a long way to go, I hope to be able to contribute to astro awareness in SG. Will look forward to joining you guys at Bishan park soon!

Joshua
