Thanks for sharing, rlow! Looks like an amazing event and you have access to a large crowd too. Too bad I could not make it. Would have been fun!

Gary, Shirox, Airconvent, thanks for the encouragement!
Tonight 27 Mar 2013, we did a 2nd astro outreach at the same spot from 10:20pm to 11:10pm. Not crowded like on Saturday so there is more time for people to shoot the moon photos. For those who wonder why I chose this place, it is because it is a convenient area for me to park my car and setup the scope while I wait to pick up my other half after work:)
Some of the public enjoy taking Moon photo through the scope:

@Rlow - Great job! Nice Moon photo from your phone!
Sidewalks involving both big and small/medium size crowds are fun in their own unique way!

Good job Rlow! Someone please help him. A very small price to pay for incredible views through the big dob or yellow submarine!

Gary, very kind of you to chip in; thanks!
Actually I would like to bring out the Yellow Submarine on the new HD tripod...rock solid but really heavy, so another pair of hands would really come in useful...

Wow! The tripod looks awesome. A pity I already promised others to be at Toa Payoh. Will definitely try to drop by for your future sessions there.

We will do a short stint of sidewalk astro outreach tonight. Testing out a new grab-n-go setup with my 6" refractor. First light...sort of...

Here is a brief report:
We had the sidewalk astro outreach outside Cineleisure Orchard tonight 24 May 2013 from 9pm to 11pm. As usual there was a big crowd and many people had a good look at the Moon through the 6" f/5 achro. Many people also took some shots with their handphone camera.
