I stay at Bedok North too. Maybe we can ob together this week.
The gentle light of a distant galaxy
must needs pour into mine eye.
Or i shall with bent and turned,
fall me down, distraught..To die.

Time : 7pm-930pm
Equipment roll call : 6" Zingaro Newt , WO 66mm refractor , Skywatcher 127mm Mak-Cass , Canon DSLR on Star-adventurer

Started out cloudy and abit hazy low in the east , first object we saw was Jupiter close to zenith. Once our scopes were setup at around 740pm onwards , we looked in vain for the moon, even venturing to the junction of Everitt road to see if we missed it due to any blockage by the low 2 storey building.

Then at 8pm sharp, a small arc of moonlight was spotted right in the middle of a gap formed between 2 trees...(heng ah!) Tracked the moon via Altazimuth mount and spent much time looking at the reddish hue of the moon.

After that the moon took on its normal yellowish hue (around 820-825pm) and the receding earth's shadow gave it a 3D like effect when observing it.

Many thanks to those who came down! Had fun chitchatting and wrapped up with a makan that was facing east & zenith which allowed us to see up till the end of the eclipse as we ate :)

{PS: Mee Kuah is not very tasty}

Regards,
Junwei

Dear all,

If weather permits, I intend go East Coast Park (where some others and myself tried comet ISON a few years back) to do some visual observation. And as a bonus, when the clock hits midnight, the ships along East Coast park will sound horns and launch red flares. Moon rises around 1am so some DSO viewing is possible.

Date : 31 Dec 2015 (Thursday)
Time : 930pm till late , past midnight and longer if weather is superb (fingers crossed)

Will bring a scope, all are welcomed.

Here is the map of the deployment site:

Cheers and happy new year 2016.

[smilie=good-job.gif]

I will come join you in the early hours of 1 Jan'16 if skies are still clear, with the Tak FC76 setup.
Having a watchnight service at church in Toa Payoh with family before that.

I may bring a friend/colleague along if I come.
