Update 9 June 2014: This garden closes at 7pm.
******************
The newly opened Jurong Eco Garden may be a good location for stargazing.

Anyone been there yet? Feel free to contribute in this thread about potential dark sites in this park and other issues (car park, amenities, local light pollution ..etc).
If this park is modeled after Tampines Eco Green, there may be minimal park lighting.

Just realised I wrongly named the "garden" as "park". Made the necessary changes. For ease of discussion, perhaps can just use the abbreviation JEG.
Added official directions map in first post. For public transport, it's bus 199 from Boon Lay Bus Interchange.

Yesterday I took a walk around. Garden Roads near the drop off point parallel to PIE can be used as an observing spot. But how lit those parts will be can be checked only after a night time visit.
But the problem is that the officially the Garden closes at 7 pm, though currently there is no Guard house or gate at the entrance near drop-off point.

Re: Jurong Eco Garden observation site (JEG)
Hello everybody
I went over to Jurong Eco Garden for an observation session a few days ago but got disappointed as it was too cloudy. The full moon is not visible at all.
I reach the garden at about 2am in the morning, at the entrance, the signboard with the map stated that the opening hours opens till 7pm.
No caretaker or any official personnel was around when i was in the garden. Every path in the garden was lit by led lights. The lights is quite dim and angled towards the ground. IMO not too glaring compared to conventional park. Height of the light post is less than 2metres.
If you take a look at the map, the central plaza is suitable for observation. Hard ground and dim lightings all around. Toilets and drinking station located within the area.
Anybody interested to visit the area, feel free to PM me
