Spectacular Morning Planetary Conjunction with Beehive

Post by rcj »

Don't forget to wake up early tomorrow morning (18 August) to view a really close planetary conjunction of Venus and Jupiter pair in the eastern morn sky, with M44 in the background!

Here is a view of ENE where the conjunction will occur at about 7 deg above the horizon at about 630AM:

I don't have any view of the eastern horizon from where I am. But I am pretty sure Gavin would be doing it from his windows tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing. :)

You're right, Richard!

Unfortunately it was totally cloudy this morning, and I could not see the two planets. Had waited from 6.00am to 7.00am.
Tomorrow morning they would be further apart (about 1 deg), and I might try again.
