Having cleaned up the fungus and restored this gem on my own with some internet-savviness and some very good seeing these nights, I took my C8 out.....into my living room and point it to the moon and Saturn last Friday for a look.
This was taken with a Nexus 6 behind a Masuyama 32mm...on a Manfrotto 410. Really pushing it but I'm pretty please with how it turned out.
Managed to split the rings on Saturn pretty well with distinct banding on the planet itself.
Deeper into the night when the scope cooled down sufficiently, managed to find M7 and Jewel Box (after much fumbling and referring to star guides) and was pleasantly rewarded with sharp points of stars with the Masuyama.
Will see if I can have more Living Room Obs in the following nights.
First light on OT C8

The gentle light of a distant galaxy
must needs pour into mine eye.
Or i shall with bent and turned,
fall me down, distraught..To die.

Hey, a Masuyama 32mm? I have heard of the 30mm and 35mm, but not 32mm.

I miss the place where stars shine bright, to gaze upwards in awe of the sight

Ah you're right. It's a 35. Had a brainfart moment there when typing.Great Red Spot wrote:Hey, a Masuyama 32mm? I have heard of the 30mm and 35mm, but not 32mm.
Hoping to get a 20mm soon!

The older OT seems to be lighter from what I remembered. I could be wrong.antares2063 wrote:Nice...restoring a scope gives a nice warm fuzzy feeling ..and i didnt know a C8 can be supported by a Manfrotto 410!
