Republic Poly can be found here.

Pardon me but where is E4 and W4?
Haha! If you click on the 'street directory' then click on the satellite image, RP is still under construction....

Yeah, where is E4, W4 and the Carpark? We don't want to lug around the scopes across the whole campus while looking for the 'Lawn Area'.

The Lawn area is most probably behind the Library.

Hi,

You can give either me or Jin peng a call when you have reached the school and we will arrange for someone to guide you to the area, our handphone numbers are 94523858 and 90678049 respectively. You can call either of us as we are both part of the organising committee.
Thank You,

That's really suay, Ian.

Btw, I don't think I can make it for the ob tonight. Think my boss's wedding dinner will end quite late and I won't be able to slip away...Orchard's quite far from Woodlands. :(

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to everyone!

Was there tonight inspite of a hurt foot that was giving me a little problem.
so was Vincent and Chris who gave interesting talks on practical astronomy and the moon. richardII was there with his C5 and treasured pentax eyepiece, zong was there with his Bino and mooey and I brought ourselves! there was a Borg 78, an 8" (or 6"?) Vixen newtonian and a Mewlon present. Observers were spoilt for choice.

sky was hazy so there was a natural filter which was appreciated since this is a rare occasion when it is a full moon and you can view it on your telescope without the glare. in fact, about the only that was too glaring was the direct projector showing the slide presentation!

thanks to the RP astro team for arranging such a well organised astro session. apart from the moon cakes, there was also a buffet dinner!
maybe the other polys can learn from them how to get such a workable budget!

apologies to chris for leaving midway through his talk as I needed to go off earlier. he had a very good time with a very enthusiastic kid in the front row! lots of interaction. also, many participants were busy snapping photos of the moon out of the eyepiece on their mobile phone cameras. if only Saturn was available and it will be a treat for their enthusiasm.

hopefully someone can post some photos here.

in anycase, off topic a little, I was truly very awed by the sheer size of the space. the main hall was like Changi airport terminal! Never expected that in land scarce singapore they can afford to build such a massive school. the lawn garden was bigger than the size of a football field and its actually the roof top of a building! I certainly intend to bring my kids there one of these days to take photos (hope RP allows this...don't want the school jaga chasing us away!)

all in all, thanks for a wonderful event and invitation!
