How to get to Turf City Ob sites

Post by Clifford60 »

Car Park Site

The car park ob site is just next to the old race track and is very near the Turf City Arch (see pic). Since it is a car park, you can setup your scope next to your car. No sand flies but may have some mossies, need mossies coil to protect the perimeter.

TO GET TO TURF CITY

Driver, from PIE exit at Eng Neo Ave, head toward Upper Bukit Timah Rd, turn right at Vanda Link (1st traffic Junction at Eng Neo Ave.), then right turn to join Turf Club Rd.

From Dunearn Rd toward City turn left at Turf Club Rd (between Sixth Ave and Eng Neo Ave).

A while on Turf Club Rd, you will see the Turf City Arch.

Once at the arch, follow the orange arrows to the site. Starting turning arrow is just after the arch and behind a small security post. If you turn up after light off, the street light also goes off, so be careful.

For non-driver, see TC link and see how to get there or arrange with one of the driver to give you a ride. (Car not horse).

Open Field Site

To get to the field site, one just need to follow the red arrows from the Turf City Arch and go the the light blue location. The moment you see there is NO more street light, another about 50m you are there. The last lighted area along the way is a road to the left of this "dark" road with a sign leading to House #192 & 198. After 10pm, this "dark" road will be chained at the start of it. Before it gets chained, you can drive your car just next to the field to unload your equipment, move back and park your car just before the chain.

It is only about 10m from the road, you can setup your equipment and begin your Ob

However, this site will not be ideal after raining, the field will be wet but not muddy. Should this be the case, you can alway ob at the car park site. The advantage of the field is that you can start as earlier as 8.00pm.

Remember to wear long pant and bring mossies coil to fence off the mossies. Anyway, never been bitten before.

Just a gentle reminder

When we approached the Turf City management, they agreed to let us use their ground, and their request was to inform their management office before using. As the office is open 24hrs everyday, we can go to the office even if it is a last minute decision. Only when you really can't locate anyone in the management office, then inform the security guards, please also tell him that you have tried the management office. We have just started out using Turf City and do not wish to jeopardise this relationship by taking shortcuts.

Just for information, Turf City's management office number is: 64688333. If you can speak to Ms Mana (during office hour) it will be better as she is aware of the arrangement. Otherwise, just inform whoever is at the other end of the phone about your intention. After office hour, the security manager should be the person in the management office.

The cyan mark in the above Turf City 2 pic is where the management office located.

Hi There,

Just joined to the forum.

That topic is a bit old, but I wonder is Turf city still available for observation?

Cheers,
Ozgur
