Comet 17P/Holmes gone kaboom!

Northern Malaysia also not so lucky, been cloud and rain since last 2 weeks. Just as i thought my luck would run out, after midnight on 31st the cloud suddenly vanished. Managed to take a few pics from the 30 minutes of clear sky.

Congratulation to Botok.

I have not seen the comet myself as it has been raining and cloudy almost every night.

I finally saw it last night at 3am. Not naked eye due to the clouds but very obvious through my Bino....yeah! :lol:

I managed to catch the comet with my telescope this time. However, there are high level clouds.. so it was hard to make out details of the comet.

I could see that the comet is elongated unlike the circle shape that was seen days back. I could see the brightening and the 'tear drop' looking core. The core was located on the East side of the comet which is now elongated in shape. I wonder if it is because of the atmosphere that makes it look elongated or has it really changed shape.

finally see holmes in Cebu Philippines on tuesday night with my binocular.

just one question, comet without the tail , does it mean that it is heading our way so the tail is behind the comet?
