Quarter Moon picture with iPhone5

Post by Canopus Lim »

Just took this picture through my 12.5" Obsession dob + paracorr + 17mm Nagler Eyepiece. The moon just fills up the width of the iPhone5 chip. I got a iPhone afocal adapter and was able to centre the phone quite well to the eyepiece. :)

Attached is the link to the raw single image.

wow...I think there are at least 3 or maybe even 4 Obsession dobs owners in singapore :)
I miss the place where stars shine bright, to gaze upwards in awe of the sight

Think there are 4 obsession telescopes in Singapore. The smartphone with its small lens can match the exit pupil of a large aperture telescope. This image is at around 100x magnification and with a ultra wide angle nagler eyepiece is able to cover more than a full moon. If I were to use 100x with smaller AFOV eyepiece the moon would have been clipped.
