Feb 15 Mersing Images and Reprocessed Data from last year

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Feb 15 Mersing Images and Reprocessed Data from last year

Post by ivan »

Hi folks! Here are some of the objects I caught in the Feb 2015 Mersing trip over the 13 to 15 Feb weekend. These are all taken with an 8" f/4 Newt, G11 mount and a filter modded 400D. Many of the objects have less than ideal data, often because there were instances of guiding issues which meant that I had to throw away frames. Anyhow, here are the processed imagery:

1. Eta Carina

One of my favourite targets, which I have revisited again in the Feb trip. 9x300sec

Image

2. NGC 3324

Star cluster with its associated nebulosity. 7x300sec

Image

3. Omega Centauri

5x180sec

Image

4. Thor's Helmet

A small and rather dim object, but an interesting target. 9x300sec

Here are my images from the March 15 Mersing trip. Since the weather wasn't stellar (we were plagued by clouds and haze with clear periods in between), I only managed to acquire data for two objects. Nonetheless, it is certainly better than nothing, and I am happy with the data that I got. Without further ado, here's presenting leo triplet and M8/M20.

Leo Triplet

Data integration of 11x7 minutes. Total exposure of 1h 17min. TPO 8" f4, Canon 400D.

Image

M8/M20

Data integration of 5x15 minutes. Total exposure of 1h15min. Borg 71FL, Canon 400D.
