Very nice, Ivan! Great work! Hope to be able to visually see the Horsehead in the future..

Indeed, the horsehead is one elusive visual target!

Here's another object, the Eta Carina Nebula, from the recent Mersing trip, with additional Hydrogen Alpha data taken from my home in Singapore.

Wow!!! Stunning image of Eta Carinae there Ivan! Pity indeed there was a fair bit of haze in Mersing last weekend. I think I was more frustrated by its effects on my nose and lungs than on the sky hahaha
Re: DSO imagery from Mersing
Thanks Joachim! I was surprised how you managed to stay outside for nearly the whole night. I had to periodically hide inside the room haha

Oh Wow...nice image, Ivan! Was the haze bad in Mersing? I read in the papers where an Indon official proclaiming the chance of haze this year is zero! But with te very dry weather and lakes and rivers drying up, not too sure how they can control any fires..

Re: DSO imagery from Mersing
Richard, the haze we had at this May trip was due to the local forest fires, it was visble during the drive into the chalet. Not indonesian haze.

Re: DSO imagery from Mersing
Thanks Richard and Kochu! Yes, as junwei mentioned, it was local fires that were the problem. As we drove along we could see smoke rising from everywhere among the forests. At night when the wind direction changes to a dominating land breeze, the smoke is carried out towards us. The air is fine in the day but upon nightfall, we were shrouded in smoke.
