Sagittarius Triplet from Singapore

Post by ivan »

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've last posted images here. My new camera which I bought early this year ended up having to go back for repair due to shutter issues. After a few months of waiting, I finally got it back in early August, and could then give it a proper first light.

With a nice streak of clear skies in the later half of August, I've managed to acquire some narrowband data of several objects from my home window at Toa Payoh. However, since I'm still waiting for my 3nm OIII/SII filters to arrive, I've only managed to gather HA data during this period. However, I had some old SHO data of the Sagittarius triplet (M8, M20 and NGC 6559) laying around, albeit shot at lower resolution, to provide the colour data. Luckily, I am able to frame the image so that I could avoid getting saturn in the view, which would be problematic when combining data from multiple nights. You can just about see its glow from the top left, however.

Impressive image as always, Ivan. Been a while. Although I really shouldn't critique much. U shouldn't have return those narrowband filters. Cheers.
