CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

First Narrowband Attempt

Post by joecool1211 »

I've finally managed to get a set of narrow band images and here is my first attempt at processing them.

It has been a steep learning curve for both acquisition and processing!

I looked at some of Ivan's images and (aside from being blown away/inspired) realize that there is hope yet to improve!

Hoping the gurus will have some wisdom to impart...

Awesome shot! And thanks for the mention :D

Narrowband is indeed quite challenging, but I'd say that one learns something new each time doing it (especially in the processing). In terms of acquisition, it's usually a case of "the more the merrier". I see that you have a nice roll-off observatory too, so you should be able to get much more data than I can on a given night. Good weather also usually comes in streaks, so if your schedule permits, make the most out of those.

Cheers!
