My Deep Sky Astrophotography

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

M64, The Black Eye Galaxy is a relatively isolated spiral galaxy 17 million light-years away.

Like the detail of the galaxy image.

Looks like quite a fruitful trip for astrophotography. Keep it up!

My 1st Hubble Pallet Attempt
Before the outbreak of COVID-19, on 5 Nov 2019, I visited Zhangjiajie Geopark and was attracted by the magnificent pillars there.
At the end of 2021, I saw a local media report that a Singaporean spent 2-3 years from his kitchen in a 5th story HDB flat at Toa Payoh collected data of a few deep sky objects (DSO) and produced a stunning SHO image of “Pillars of Creation”. The “Pillars of Creation” look like those in Zhangjiajie Geopark. Dec 2021, I decided to explore the deep sky.
Because I am very much older than him, I can’t afford 2-3 years for a few DSOs. So, in May 2022, I travelled to Mersing, spent a few nights collecting data of M16 and other DSOs.
This is my 1st SHO attempt and hopefully I can travel more often to Mersing.

Nice M8-M20 shot.

These bright objects are easy to capture but the surrounding dense star fields make it difficult to render nice imagery. Yours is much better than my work.

The M31 shot shows a lot of nice detail. But there are some phantom/glare lights near the corners. Did some lights shine into your tube?

Thx. Could be. I was capturing at about 15 degrees.

I will go there again.
