My Wide Field Astrophotography

Post by leslie128 »

Godzilla vs Dragon of Milky Way
哥斯拉大战银河之龙

We visited Johor for birding very often before Malaysia locked down on 18 March 2020.
If weather permit, we will spend about 1-2 hours before or after birding in the forest for wide field astrophotography. The sky there were marvellous during moonless night.
This photo was captured in the forest between Mersing and Kahang in 2019.

My 1st Milky Way photo shot in Singapore.
Many DSOs could be found in one frame.
On the right is the tail of Scorpion, where C76 & NGC6322 are located.
Centre of the frame is M6 & M7
Extreme left is M8 & NGC6530

Thx
I applied 500 rule
(If possible, use 400 rule)
F/2.8, 14mm, FF, ISO 1600
500/14=35s
400/14=28s
Exposure not more than 30s.
The 1st photo was shot in Lenggor.
The 2nd photo was shot in Panti Bird Sanctuary.
The location is about 9km from main road and All-wheel or 4-wheel vehicle is required for access.

Nice shot! The right side looks affected by light pollution -- was it from the Mersing town?
