New camera: Canon 450D/Rebel XSi

Post by rcj »

Canon has just released this information few days back. here is a review from DPReviews : http://www.dpreview.com/news/0801/08012 ... hanges.asp

Note that some of the features from 40D has been inherited in 450D now (like the coveted Live View, etc).

the 450D is selling about the same price as the 400D.......with far better features.

That LiveView will be great for focusing.

i have not checked...how much is the 450D kit retailing for? I recon to modify the camera, so did not intend to spend the extra money on the 450D, and then finding out that the modification went screwed up. Felt safer with the 400D route...

Hi,
I already sold my Canon 300D few weeks ago and waiting to get either the 450D or the 40D.. both have Live View, but 40D (with better build, higher bust rate and faster auto focusing speed, but these features are not that importance to me) is 10MP and 450D is 12.2MP. Still waiting for the actual review of 450D and the actual functionality first before decide which to get.

Anyway, I think Canon 450D will only start selling in Singapore may be in April... so I'm now a pure "visual man". :P :P :P

Have a nice day.

canon might be releasing the 450D during the next computer fair. note that it is now using SD cards, so for those who already have lots of CF cards, it might be a consideration. It is using the DIGIC III now, high cap batteries, and the 14 bit ADC which would be a plus in DSO work during image post processing. As for the thrills of Live View, it is definitely a good thing to have and greater convenience, but it may not give consistent 100% focus on the dot kind-of results. Focusing with the assistance of the laptop or stiletto gen IV devices might be a worthy investment, if u are absolutely finicky about yielding the best sharpest results without the need of deconv third party tools.

Instead of looking at the Empire's products, the new Pentax K20D (14MP CMOS) is generating alot of interest because it incorporates what has been hailed as the best ccd of its class for the current range. what's more its claimed to have a usable ISO3200...although I think I will place my bet for ISO1600 instead.
Check out the reviews on dpreview and clubsnap...

Hi,
I don't mind changing to other brand of camera if they are really good as I only got 2 low cost canon lenses, but there are lots inconvenience and things need to figure out:
1) Does it produce a true RAW file??
2) Does the astro image processing software support the RAW file??
3) Noise performance??
4) my programmable remote control will not work on those camera??

Have a nice day.
