Bicycle Astronomy - Doug Reilly

Post by Gary »

Read this nice blog on the Veloscope.

http://bicycleastronomy.org/2013/01/16/ ... telescope/

Follow him on twitter and read his other Bicycle Astronomy blogs. Great respect for this guy. His Kickstarter idea got funded (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/145 ... -astronomy) and was recently featured in Sky & Telescope.

In the Singapore context, Bicycle Astronomy makes a lot sense if you consider the confluence of crazy COE and carparking situation and the park connecting projects.

Hope to see decent size dobs being used for sidewalk astronomy in various parks in Singapore someday using bicycle as the main mode of transportation. Previously spent sometime talking to a Toa Payoh uncle who collects lots paper cartons using a 3-wheeler bicycle. His bicycle trailer can easily handle a decent size dob for sidewalks.

"The importance of a telescope is not how big it is, how well made it is.
It is how many people, less fortunate than you, got to look through it."
