Nexstar Hand Controller

Post by river »

Have any one here use a newer Nexstar Hand controller (Version 4.10 and above)? How good is the "sync" function?
-- Press "MENU" >> "UTILITIES" >>"VERSION" to see the HC version info

I want to know the PCB version and the processor they used in the new controller for a possible project. Can you help? Thanks.
-- have to open the back cover a little and look at the PCB

I have the original nexstar so can't help you.
That controller is so old even celestron pretends it does not exist!
All their software upgrades and new controllers onoly support Nexstar "I" and later....sigh...

my guess is probably a new pcb design with new MCU that supports EEPROM reprogramming.

but some says that both v3.04 and v4.0 have same PCB number "NXW210". If only the PIC is different and the pin assignment remain the same, then I can DIY to replace the PIC and download newer firmware which will perform much better.

I have hot air blower, download cable etc, all I need is to buy a new IC. I enjoy DIY :)
