Alternative material for telescope tube?

Wanna make a scope? Or better still, grind a mirror yourself. Or, you have some good tips in making a really useful accessory? This is the place to show what your hands can do...

Other than metal like aluminium etc, is there other alternative material available in Singapore to replace my damaged C4.5 tube? [smilie=confused.gif]

You can also consider using a cardboard tube (like sonotube), UPVC pipe or construct with plywood. You can check out online or some ATM books etc for examples.

cardboard tube sounds good.....Upvc is just too heavy..heavier than aluminium?

I'm not really a handy man...but where to find this sonotube or I can actually find someone cut the holes etc~

Sonoco manufactures these sonotubes, but not sure if they
sell to end user, been to the factory many years back to see
the manufacturing of these tubes.

carbon fibre tubing? but must source from usa. did some research long time ago and remember coming across stock tubing in many large sizes

For carbon fibre tubing, check to make sure you get a stiff one, and not a flexible type like those used for flexible dew shields.
