Tracking Motor Queries

Post by JJLoke »

Hi guys, i would like to know if a stepper motor having a resolution of 0.29 degrees and ~70kg/cm torque is sufficient for tracking with a 3" refractor

What is the moving rate of the stars and the moon also

Thank you!

Well, I can't answer you about the technical stuff like the motors. But I can try to answer your other questions. For all tracking, we use 1x sidereal time. I'm not sure about the moon, but for all stars and other celestial objects, it is 1x sidereal.
