Improved Focusing Knob for Sky-Watcher Mak 127

Post by Gary »

Finally!!!

Push rubber washer through rubber leg tip. Push rubber leg tip over focusing knob. Everything fits in snugly - rubber through rubber on rubber. :)

No metal parts involved means no potential/accidental damage to original focusing knob rubber surface.

Rubber Leg Tip
inner diameter = 17 mm (although the words "19mm" is engraved inside)
outer diameter = 22 mm
Cost = $0.30

Rubber Washer
inner diameter = 20 mm
outer diameter = 44 mm
Cost = $0.80

Best $1.10 I have ever spent in my life. 525 power here I come!!! :)

Woohoo!

At 525 power your mount is your enemy. I've used 1175X (!) with my C9.25 but it's real shaky on the GP... I don't dare touch the damn thing (I use my electric focuser, which has now been much improved).

That plus our shaky hands...wobbles are common!

Gary! I noticed in the first pic your actual focus knob has a rusty looking small hole at the side! Seems like a grub screw locking the focus knob to the focus shaft! If so, it can be removed. I still have the Knob....you want it?? Lemme know ya...we can meet Friday and install!
My wife never complained about how much time, effort & money I spent on my Astronomy hobby!................suddenly I met her!!!
