Serial cable DIY for 350D and 400D Rebel cameras

Post by rcj »

Hi all!

Just a curious thought to anyone who have actually DIYed the serial cable connecting these cameras to the laptop. As I am aware, these cameras in particular (excluding the more recent 500D, 550D, 600D) require a serial cable connection. Has anyone made such a cable before? Understand that there is also a need to actually purchase the serial-to-USB converter as well, which this in particular costs above $20 alone. I was thinking of making such a cable in time for tomorrow's expedition departure to avoid having to make manual exposures with Mike's 400D, and there's not enough time to buy the DSUSB from Shoestring which ain't cheap neither.
