Forum upgrade complete! (26 Sept 2011)

Post by zong »

Hi guys, the forum has been upgraded. Hopefully the new user registration system will deter spammer registrations. Yay!

If anyone notices any problems with the new systems, please post them here in the thread so I can fix them. Also, we are starting fresh with the forum mods, so if you desperately wish for some mod in the old forums to be installed here, you can post it here too. I'll try to accomodate, but I can't promise anything.

Changes have also been implemented in the posting system:
  1. You're allowed to delete your post (if it's a double-post or you regretted what you typed) within 5 minutes of your submitting the post.
  • You're allowed to edit your post within 15 minutes of submitting the post. This is to ensure continuity in the threads.
Enjoy the new upgraded forum!

Hi,
Thanks Zong for doing the upgrade... [smilie=good-job.gif]

Anyway, the new registration system seem to be more prone to spammer registration... [smilie=bad-atmosphere.gif] Got 20++ new users been register and still increasing... By looking at the username and email address, I think most are spammer registration.

Have a nice day.

Frankly, IMHO, phpBB will be spammer prone no matter what. It needs to be harden pretty much after installation, but it will not be perfect. Which prompts me to change it to VBulletin (in another forum I am managing), it's a paid forum but it has very powerful features as well, with a big community backing it providing extensions and mods to make it more user friendly.

Disclaimer: I dun work for VBulletin, just a satisfied customer.

Thanks for all the hard work!

May I have a small request? Can you make the font size of the username larger? It's quite easy to miss when I read the posts.

Thank you!

Hi Guys
For those who wish to go full screen, you can go to your user control panel , board preference, and board style to change the theme. The default is what you see but the other one will give you full screen but in a different format. Your choice ultimately.
And if the font is too small , press Ctl+ to enlarge the font (this is a windows feature, not the forum)
