hi wee kiong
thanks for the sponsorship and the additional increase in prizes...that's a nioce touch for those who submitted their entries.

as to your suggestion, the level of interest in drawing the astro image is relatively low. Only Rlow actually sit down slowly and peered into the telescope to sketch a real time image of Mars...for that he deserved first prize. I think another contestant also did it but not as meticulous as rlow...
(congrats richard II! ) so likely we will still keep the contest simple. in fact,

we could have a short quiz after the talk...then there will be alot of entries..
the contest form can also act as a feedback form also..

I fully agree with Rich. If we break down the contests into different groups, there will only be 1 participant per group! :D
We do it in the dark...

Takahashi Mewlon 210

Could i trade in my 'Planetarium', for a night's private session at the Starville's Observatory?

Heh.
Just a suggestion!

must needs pour into mine eye.
Or i shall with bent and turned,
fall me down, distraught..To die.

I received the Borders voucher by post from Mr. Lee yesterday.

I'd like to say many thanks to Mr. Lee for his generous sponsorship! Thanks too to the organisers and officials of the sketching competition. I think it was a very good idea. Also thanks to those who let me view thru their scopes at Mars Watch.

As I did the sketching with a full set of colour pencils, I did not sketch at the eye-piece, but instead tried to remember all the details and then sketched under bright lights in the corridors. Took me half an hour. This is the first time I've gotten anywhere with a drawing competition since kindergarten. Actually, I'm very poor at art. e.g. only know how to draw human figures in stick form.

Let's have a Saturn Watch around end January! Maybe to be made as part of CNY festivities. This time I'll try to bring my scope.
