New Image: NGC 1977

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

New Image: NGC 1977

All,

Here's an image of the Running Man Nebula. A session cut short by technical problems with electrical contacts, software crashes and an erratic camera! As a result, far fewer frames than I would have liked. Also have gone down to ISO400. Processing was done without a flat frame - will explain more when I revamp my website...

I liked the range of star colours!

btw, why is this called the "running man"..I can't seem to make out where the legs are...
in anycase, nice images. do keep em coming! Since you have such a large collection, can I suggest that you load it in the album section under your own folder and create links to it from here?

cheers!

Hi,
oops...I think you ran out of bandwidth again. One moment, I saw the image and when I reloaded, its gone....sigh..
You can see the image by follow the link on the webpage and click on the image thumbnails. I wonder why it behave like a web browser within a web page???

Anyway, if you look carefully, the nebulosity mark the outline of the running man. The three stars on top are near the "head"; the green nebulosity with a bright star on the middle-right is on one of the hand and the bottom three stars are near the "front leg"... :) :) It also like a star fish with 5 limbs.

Have a nice day.

Its not very elegant but I decided to let it stay for now....
The site definitely have a bandwidth restriction problem. Can try again tomorrow when it resets.
