SQM Values for Mersing

Post by DCWZ »

Hi all! I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken the SQM value for Mersing trips (mostly to Sri Kandi resort)? Or does anyone have an SQM device available to help measure the SQM value there? I require this value to do a location comparison of potential stargazing sites.

Thanks a lot!

I would be quite interested as well. There's a way to measure skyfog using a DSLR:

A Taiwanese group that visited Mersing in May 2019 brought along a SQM device. According to 9 readings, SQM yielded an average reading of 21.36, with values ranging from 21.30 to 21.40.

This puts the area in the Bortle 3 level.

It's interesting a group of Taiwanese would actually travel all the way to Malaysia to do obbing and measurement...I think Mersing has higher level of pollution now than 10 years ago, so perhaps figures could have been slightly better back then?
