heh heh...here we go again...rich's goto vs vince's manual...
as we have debated many times, its all a matter of choice whether to go for goto or not.
some people like to take a boat out fishing. if they spend the whole day at sea and catch only 1-2 fishes, they are happy as the joy is in the waiting and the hunting.
whereas for some, they want to go fishing to actually catch fish...so they use echo sounders, nets, etc and catch a lot of fishes. In the end, both types of people are happy.
You need to know what type you are.
Just because you opt to be one does not mean you have to stay there...you can switch anytime. Like me, I'm a goto guy, but of late, have also expressed some interest in learning manual search due to my Orion 80ED refractor...
Just ask yourself, do you like to search for the items but find fewer objects or use goto and see all the objects with the click of the button....
FWIW, most singastroians are manual people, so I'm quite lonely, welcome you to join me!

Whatever anyone does, don't touch it. Meade customer service went to hell after DS was introduced... You won't want to know about the public relations disaster that happened after that. You can keep an 80mm refractor for a long time but you'll throw this away after a week.ive seen a second hand meade DS2114ATS before fully computerised at S$380
