Largest Active Region on the Sun of this Cycle?

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Largest Active Region on the Sun of this Cycle?

Post by yltansg »

Imaged yesterday with a 150mm achro refractor fitted with Blue Energy Rejection Filter and Calcium-K filters, Active Reion AR3961 is greater than 12 times planet Earth's diameter. It has a "Beta, Delta, Gamma" magnetic field which harbours energy for X-Class solar flares. You can see it with a solar eclipse sun glass without a telescope.

Hi Alfred,
Nice photos and I'm pleasantly surprised you got data over the weekend because it's been cloudy with rain for the entire week.

Happy CNY!

P.S. I've bought the MLAstro SHG which should be delivered a few weeks after CNY.

Hi CY,

Thanks for your compliment. The images were taken at the right moment when there was a hole in the clouds :)

Looking forward to see your images using the MLAstro SHG.
