since someone mention, i shall reveal some of my plans. i have been wanting to do an small mass ordering of bino, particularly the minolta activa and the pentax pcf in either 7x or 10x magnification. how about this, u gif me some time while i go sought out the quotations.

anyone else who is genuninely interested in a pair of quality 50mm binos at a price of less than $200 can sign up for the list. i intend to get either 5 pairs or 10 pairs for a start.

bino

Post by fizzy123 »

Basically I think the 10x50 is the best among the three. Even though the 7x50 is deemed the traditional configuration of a good typical bino for astro. Bcos the 10x has more magnification thus more suitable for light polluted skys. But considering the fact the first bino in ur list is lightest I think u may want it as ur hands might tire out after long holding.

dear all, so far i have gotten quotation for the minolta activa 7x50 and the nikon action 7x50. the minolta activa would be somewhere around $160. not sure if he can go any lower, waiting for a confirmation from him on monday. the nikon action is at $180. would have to wait till monday to get a quotation for the pentax, but i doubt the pricing would be any good since my friend has to get it from other sources.

Just a suggestion.

Those interested to purchase 'bargain-able' binocs, may want to visit the basement shops of lucky plaza in Orchard Road.. they have minolta, a few nikon and even pentax PCF WCP!! just no celestron (not any that i know of).

You might be interested to try some second hand binos, e.g. rlow's 7x50 tasco.
Yes, the Tasco 7x50mm bino is currently still available. For students on a tight budget, I plan to sell at a special student price less than $150 with a zero-interest payment installment scheme. Please see my other post, excerpt below:

"4. "Tasco Offshore 21" - 7x50mm marine binoculars, american porro-prism style, individual focusing, dioptre adjustment, waterproofed, fog-proofed nitrogen-filled, all lens caps attached to bino, neck strap, rubber armored, treaded for ¼-20 screw-on adaptor – very good condition with minor cosmetic marks, clean optics. Will give special student price with zero-interest installment scheme for keen students only, pm me;"

More new details are available on my other post above.

Any student who is keen, kindly sms or pm me. Thank you.
