woohoo!!! I found my first Messier Object today!!!!! It took me two days to find it!!! If not for the clouds!!! But I found it!!! I can see it out my window in the south... near the scorpion's sting.. i can now identify 4 constellations.. hehe the ones from the south so far!!!

Look around M7 and you'll find your second Messier Object.... M6!!!

congrats! after my very first singastro meeting, I bought an ETX90 and used it to peer at M7 from my kitchen window..and yes...it was a sight!...

now that you have found it, it will be easier the next time. yours is a newtonian, so keep the eyepiece mag low for wide view and it'll be easy to spot.

Try the east sky @ about 4am in the mornings, you could catch M42 clearly on the Orion belt stars location...and especially of late, the early mornings are very clear and cloudless. Also the Pleiades are a joy to catch.

i wish i had the luxury of staying up until 4am... but i hav been looking for the opportunity to find the pleiades...

tonight i will try to find M6.. if i get off work early! (i work in boon lay.. i live in sengkang!)

Try to find NGC6231. It is actually easier because it is one of the stars of the constellation Scorpius... This map will show you where it is.

Do you have a star chart btw?

i use starry night pro 5 as a guide... i tried looking for 6231.. but no luck.. or im jz not sure what im supposed to see.. nwayz im retiring for the night... wish d skies could be darker! i took my scope out but it only frustrated me cz of the street lights... viewing is better from my room!!

i found the M6 after i wrote my last reply!!! gawd now i hav a stiff neck.. i think i will stick observing from my room!

saw a meteor zip past hydras... was testing out binoculars and book! ahehe pretty cool! wish i could just stay up all night and look at the stars!!!
