Bedok 215A carpark Observation : 28/01/06

Hi all,

After reading this post from gchew about the weather forecast,
http://www.singastro.org/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=

I have decided to heck care my reunion dinner and give it a shot at the sky this coming saturday. Will be there from 8.30pm onwards. Rest of the SOP in case of bad weather is as usual.

Also it will be the first light of my new telescope, codename: IVORY.
Need to carry out more endurance training with this 200mm newtonian, definitely its going to be more challenging than lugging around my 125mm Maksutov. lol

Best regards,

hi jun wei
reunion dinners are even more rare than clear skies...only once a year...
also, dinner at 6pm , so plenty of time to make it at 8.30 for your new toy...btw, prediction is it will be cloudy due to new large white scope!

I wonder if the reverse would work: maybe I bring a umbrella along, then the clouds will clear! Just some wishful thinking...

Hi all,

Its ok . My point of reasoning is this: I have been going to reunion dinners for 20+ consecutive years. Just missing one this year wont make much of a difference. Besides, the relatives always ask and me the same old questions.

Im sick of it already.

I rather try out my telescope this weekend cos its the holiday period, got time to stay up late.

Hi Junwei,

VinSnr iand Airconvent are right. You will still have lots of time to go obbing after dinner. I have gone for reunion dinners for the past 40yrs and I still think it is important. When you are 50yrs old, you will want your own kids to be at the reunion dinner. :D

Trust me, it does. Maybe not to you, but to your old folks.

I don't like reunion dinner either because I have to crowd with the people at the causeway just to go home and then crowd with them again just to come back. But hey, it's only one year once and that's a small price to pay just to make the old folks happy.

Furthermore at the end, you get your red hot ang pow which I don't even get.

So come on.... go for your dinner, lots of time later to play with your toys.

It really depends on your family. Mine does not mind one way or another. Sometimes I have to travel over CNY and miss the Reunion Dinner. When I get back we just go for a simple 'lou hei' and be done with it. I do not have any surviving grandparents in Singapore so that makes it easier. :)

Addendum: It appears the weather has changed again - Friday night may be clearer than Saturday night!
