Hi Anat,

You never fail to amaze us with your technical feats. Congratulation on this successful conversion. So what's next on the drawing board?

Thanks Rich, CC, Weixing, and Matthew.
Weixing, the Vixen dewshield is smaller than the new lens cell. To maintain the portability, I will use a flexible dewshield like that used for a 90mm mak.

Matthew, too many projects on the list :)

I suspect that Bangkok sky will be pretty cloudy this weekend. I hope it will not affect Penang sky.

Anyway, I would like to congratulate Anat for the successful completion of this superb project. I have previously wanted to buy a lens from TMB, but it would cost me USD1000, just the lens. Now, Anat completed the whole project for a couple hundred less than then lens cost alone. (where is the envy emoticons? when I need one?)

150mm APO for next project?

Good job Anat,

For your information, this is another TMB80/480 made by my friend with the lens imported directly from TMB's russia contractor, LOMO.

Liu Ming

I got the lens from APM. It does not have the word "LOMO".
http://www.apm-telescopes.de/info_bilde ... l_id=70257
It comes with a test report (P-V = 0.16 lamda, RMS = 0.026 lamda).
If one can get it directly from LOMO with a cheaper price, it is interesting.

Hi Liu ming/Anat/anyone,

What do you think is the perfect tube to house the Astreya 102/650 lens ( http://astreya-optics.narod.ru/eng/prod/lens102.html )?
Perfect means the least modification required :-)

For TMB 105/650 and Astreya 102/650, I think the Borg 115 mm tube is a good option. If you want more portability, I suggest the Borg # 2005 and a Borg 80 mm tube. http://www.sciencecenter.net/hutech/bor ... /index.htm

You may need to use a flexible dewshield.

BTW, Astreya quotes very high shipping cost. So, I think the TMB 105/650 is more interesting. Grand Eye sells the TMB 105/650 at about US$1400 with a test report.
