Hi,
I'm not sure whether anyone is interested to co-own a travel scope here. Must be someone that can provide TLC to the scope, knows me personally, and have extra space in his/her drycab to store the scope when not in use.
I'm interested in a wide field scopes > 90mm aperture, the contenders are:
- WO 90mm f/7 FD
- Used TV Genesis (non-SDF)
- Used Vixen 4" f/6.5 ED
Let me know in private if anyone interested.
thanks,
Arief
Co-owning a Travel Scope?
Re: Co-owning a Travel Scope?
I think this has been discussed before. Very hard to make it work.ariefm71 wrote:Hi,

Hmmm.... haven't think that far :-)Scopes are like girlfriends/boyfriends or wife/husband. How to share-share like that? If both want to travel at the same time then how?
Alternatively, anyone interested to rent out his "girlfriend" or "wife" for a fee to go with me on my trips?

Hmm.. but then how many times have you sold your partner and upgrade to a 'bigger' one? Or bought a second-hand, third-hand (or more hands?) partner?kayheem wrote:Scopes are like girlfriends/boyfriends or wife/husband. How to share-share like that?
In my opinion, it would work if:
1. It's not a new scope - so minor cosmetic damages are allowed.
2. It's not the only scope for both parties - so even if both wanted to use at the same time, a compromise is possible.
3. It is not a very expensive scope - so that one party would not be tempted to run away with it.
4. Both parties are easy-going (and that includes their partners!).
I thought about sharing a large-aperture scope some months back but decided against it because it failed criteria (1) and (3). Otherwise, from an economic point of view, it makes sense!
Finally, have it down in written agreement!
Cheers!

Good point!Canopus Lim wrote:I think the big problem is that it is supposed to be a 'grab and go' scope. If it is in the other person's house, how can it be grab and go? In the end it becomes not grab and go unless the scope is in your house all the time.

Looks like the only way out is to share it with your wife!
