For sale: my last piece of Astroslew-II alt-azimuth mount

Post by denebman »

Only four pieces of Astroslew-II were made and this is the last one. Its frame (L shape) is cut from a solid block of T 7050 aluminium alloy (more strength than T 6061), there is no welding, casting or bolt connection at all. Both its altitude and azimuth have 4-inch Teflon padded friction surface that provides stable and smooth glide for your scopes up to 10 to 12 kg. It also uses stainless steel shaft and self-centering tapered roller bearing to make sure that the altitude and azimuth axis remain orthogonal as much as possible.

Other specifications.
Bottom hole size: 3/8 inch threaded
Mounting surface: two M8 holes with 35 mm separation
Dampening time: 0.4 second (tested with Mewlon 210 at 200 X, using Gitzo MK-II 1500 tripod and vibration pad)

The package also includes two brass nuts and one spanner shown in the attached photo.
Price: SOLD

wah, sell so fast? those who wans it better grab it fast. i have tried it out on liu ming's 4.5" apo. very nice to track even at 268x. i could feel no vibration when focusing. slewing ard at abt 25x, u could feel that there's almost no feeling of any mount. if i have a 4-5" apo, i would have already grab this last piece straight.

Yes, I have personally tried this and it is indeed a very solid and smooth altazimuth mount. And I would believe it is heavyduty enough to handle even a 8"-11" SCT ota.
