New scope for a newbie... was [Hi everybody!!!]

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

But this 5" means as a reflactor or a reflector, because I noticed reflector seems to be bigger for the same prcie.

Hi,
A 5" scope only indicate the aperture of the scope, but not the type of scope. The price of scope generally depend on:
1) The type of telescope,
2) The aperture of the telescope, and
3) The brand of the telescope.

Normally, Reflector scope got the cheapest per inch, follow by catadioptrics scope then Refractor. This mean that a 5" Reflector is generally cheaper than a 5" catadioptrics (SCT/MCT) and a 5" Refractor is generally the most costly. Of course, brand and scope quality will also affect the price of a scope - A branded and good quality 5" catadioptrics may sometime more costly than a 5" Refractor.
