Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
maybe someday see u there at grass patch beside Tampines Stadium, i just need to a 1 bus to reach there. (never know ppl observe there! stay in tampines for 8 years! haha)
anyway, anyone stay in Punggol? moved there recently and now i usually observe at Punggol east. near Blk 160B and around blk 600+. no street light, etc quite dark at night as i dun have car and the scope is little heavy to carry around.

I normally observe at the grass patch beside Tampines Stadium which is near my block. Light pollution is quite serious, but convenient (I don't drive) and safety are my primary concern. If on a moonless night and I was not observing alone, then observation will take place in the big grass field opposite the swimming pool (near ave 6).
ulu ulu place in Tampines Ave 10
Where is it??? May be can go there for over night observation when weather is more predictable...
Stevenpoon and Blurblock, please do not go off-topic. Create a new topic on observing locations in the appropriate forum if you want to continue this discussion. Thanks.

Secondary Mirror Obstruction
2.5" (10% by area or 31% by diameter)
hehehe .... problem with information specialist is we often jolt down to the last detail but never tell anything pass the superificial ;).
Now, I'm not sure what an information specialist is ;) but you know my background..lol, so I'll point out that details can be misleading.
Sometimes manufacturers quote the secondary mirror size but the actual obstruction is bigger because of the support holding the mirror or baffle. I don't know if this is the case here.
This is an article I thought was very helpful about the effects of central obstruction in reflecting and catadioptric scopes (by % area which is the more common one): http://groups.google.com/groups?q=centr ... net&rnum=1.
