Richard...we will certainly involve you as well.
maybe you will have the lion share...
Hi Wu, I currently already have my hands full with the eleven incher, which I am doing some fine-tuning and will be sharing with everyone anyway. So, I need not have the lion's share or any share at all, but I will still contribute my support and help in other ways I can. :)

Hi Clifford, membership requirements and minimum amount etc are details that currently need to be worked out. You can contact and discuss this with Wu & Arief directly.

As what many ppl noted here, co-ownership may not work. So, I don't think I will own any part of the scope. No more fund for bigger scope for me :(

I will gladly help the new owner make the structure for it.

cheers,
Arief

How much will the estimate total cost?
A lot depends on whether we buy the structure (you can check the prices at Telekit or Astrosky etc) or we build the structure, and whether we use top-grade accessories or not for the secondary mirror/support, spider, focuser, mirror cell support, truss connectors etc. Probably, if we buy quality accessories and built the plywood structure ourselves, the cost (minus the mirror) can be kept within $1000 USD. From his experience, Arief would be the better person to advise us on this.

Sigh... It would have been good to have Arief as a key member! :(

Anyway, just to share this email with you guys, :) this is what Carl Zambuto has to say regarding this post, in his own words:

I like the atmosphere of community in your country. Outside of an astronomy club, folks don't normally share in such a project. Sole ownership seems to be more important here. Well this will be a very special mirror then, because it will belong to several people. I'm really going to enjoy doing it.

Thanks Arief, for sharing all your info posted on CN. :) I thought you had posted to sell it on Astromart? Are you selling just the mirror, the ota or the complete setup? You may like to post separately on 'Buy & Sell' and let us know your asking price.

I have admired the beauty of your 10" scope for a short while, but now that I got the eleven incher, I will have to give yours a miss. Fantastic mirror you got there! Can we see a photo of your dob mount rocker base? If that is what you meant.

still going back and forth whether to sell it or not. i still think a 10" is the optimum aperture for me...
definitely not just selling the mirror, must be the complete setup or the structure only.
i have two dob mount for my 10". one is from orion skyquest intelliscope series (comes with the encoders), the other one is the collapsible dob mount from Compact Precision Telescopes ( http://www.astronomy-mall.com/FirstBase/ , currently being held by vPost )

But let's go back to our topic...15" Zambuto mirror on sale!!!

~ US$4000/- is too much for a newbie who has yet to learn the night sky. I don't mind to contribute 10% to 20% to co-own the scope and help in the building process as much as I can.
