Hope to see it before it is gone. Got the whole of SW to W for me to catch it, hopefully a better sky one of this night.

alamak! sky is so clear now but in the early evening it was sooooo cloudy!

hope to be able to catch this maybe once in a life time comet.
already its supposed to be brighter than halebopp! Astronomers predict that if the comet fragment, it would be several times brigher than Venus!

Well, I tried to see it this evening. Drove down to Siloso beach ($4 entrance plus $1 parking). Good viewing area, a few ship lights and oil fires in the horizon, but otherwise, can't ask for much better...

...except for the cloud cover

Low hanging clouds just refused to relent and covered the setting sun in the WSW. Waste of time on the whole.

Don't know if it's worthit to pay 5 bucks for the next few days to hope for clear skies. Don't think so, but then I really want to see this comet.

Err... I think you won't be able to see it in the evening now, but early in the morning before sunrise... at 6:30am around 10 degree above Vega.

I think I select the wrong Comet McNaught when using my Star Chart software... :oops: :oops: I realise it only this morning...

It'll be visible during the evening, but still very low now.

Anyway, it'll climb higher each day... hope can catch it soon.

I think either morning or evening should be equally OK for observation, but both are difficult because the viewing window is so small. Comet rises @ 0707 and sets @ 1905 according to my Astronomy software (I use Hallo Northern Sky), and follows sun closely. Maybe around 0700 - 0730 looking ESE around the horizon would be a good bet with a clear horizon, but I have built up areas around my eastern horizon from home up to 15 degrees above horizon, so may be difficult to spot comet until 0800+, when it may be too bright anyway. Evening seems better bet, would be perfect without this stupid cloud cover. Siloso beach is a good viewing spot for the setting comet.

But now that I think about it some more, I should try and view it as it rises. Comet rises and sets *before* the sun, so viewing will be more difficult in the evening, won't it?

Any suggestions on good viewing places for the low ESE sky? Will be off this Saturday, think I'll be an early riser and head down to make a determined effort. If not Sat due to cloud cover, there's always Sunday. After that, I guess I have to give up.

I can see the horizon for both sunrise and sunset from my home. Hd tried many morning and evening for the comet, but the cloud is not doing me a favour. Cloudy morning, cloudy evening

It seems like the cloud is following the sun. Horizon clear during @ mid day and cloudy during morning and evening
