Meade Off Axis Guider and Astrophotography setup

Post by yanyewkay »

Anyone used the below off axis guider before and got any feedback?
http://www.cloudynights.com/classifieds ... =11&page=1

can it be mounted onto other brands of scope? I'm currently using the skywatcher 127 mak.

My objective is to use my Canon 30D to do prime focus photography.

Am I right to say that I will use the guider as described below:

Code: Select all

      WEB CAM->laptop running GuideDog
           |
          \|/
   SCOPE->OAG->T-RING->30D
     \|/
 MOUNT(CG5)<-Autoguide port<-Laptop
web cam mentioned is the free webcam from creative during the wireless@sg sign up promo.

Hi,
I got one that I didn't use... not in very good condition, but good enough for testing. Let me know if you are interested to test it before you get one yourself.

By the way, you need to get a SCT adapter for your Sky-Watcher 127 ( http://www.scopestuff.com/ss_smsa.htm ), so that you can use the Off-Axis Guider.

Have a nice day.

I need the reverse... is there an adapter to mate my OAG to a normal 2" focuser?

Hmm... I didn't actually use it, so not quite sure is it still functional, but it should be functional. :P Anyway, let me know when you need it... I'll pass it to you for testing.

Your OAG is a SCT version?? Then you can get the 2" eyepiece barrel to SCT adapter from scopestuff ( http://www.scopestuff.com/ss_taep.htm ).

Have a nice day.
