Eta Carinae..work in progress

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Eta Carinae..work in progress

Post by rcj »

Hi all,

Here is an unfinished work-in-progress mosaic of Eta Carinae (again!...hehe).

Image

This is a 7 panel mosaic totalling 8 hours of exposures in hydrogen alpha...more to come, less noise, more stacking!

UPDATE (29th March 2007):

Here is an inverted version together with a listing of objects in the region.

Hi Richard and rest,

Yes managed to capture the cluster. It is NGC3293 (sometimes known as the Gem Cluster), and is about 1000 LY nearer to us than Eta Carinae. Infact, the neighbouring regions have quite a few interesting targets to image. So many objects, so like clear sky time!
