Eta Carinae..work in progress

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Amazing detail and contrast. You truly are a master.

NGC3293 is one of my favourite clusters, like a football and the most 3D looking cluster I know. It's round shape and mix of brighter and dimmer stars suggest a ball of stars. Too bad you probably won't be able to include another one of my favourites NGC3532, a huge cluster of stars (maybe the biggest) further to the top right of the nebula.

Wow, wow. The picture is just amazing. Those two bubbles of gas, at the top right and left of the keyhole - I wonder what formed those.

In Mersing, I managed to get a look at the keyhole nebula through CC's Portaball and the view of truly breathtaking. I could see the dark lanes just as in the photo with hints of the details visible in the photo, but the contrast due to the sky that night was not good.

Thanks for sharing this photo, and all the best in completing the mosiac as soon as possible.

Clear skies,
Chris

I have uploaded an inverted copy in the original posting as a reference on the surrounding objects in this region.

cool, remus!
Its good to provide info for learners and "oldies" alike! :)
Is there a name for that nice "crescent puff" nebula at the top left corner?

Why do people call the keyhole nebula that? I can't seem to make out the key hole...
