is there a tracking mount for cameras ?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Hi,

You can get a low cost table top EQ1 or if you got more budget, you can get a Vixen GP Photo Guider.... Actually, any EQ mount will do... :)

Have a nice day.

Yes, I was reading about this Min-EQ from Orion. Looks sleek. But correct me if I am wrong as I think it may difficult to use it at our latitude as we cannot polar align it by aiming at Polaris. Think it is impossible to do drift align with this mini mount.

By the way, Hommel, tested the Zoom Eyepiece and it was great.

Hi,
Think it is impossible to do drift align with this mini mount.
I think it can be done, but need to be more careful and need more patient to do fine adjustment. Anyway, I saw one in action, it's can be mount on a camera tripod and quite steady as long as you don't overload it... may be around 2kg of load.

Have a nice day

If you are doing wide-field, you do not need to be very accurate in polar alignment.

I have got a Min-EQ mounted on a tripod. I have tried it with a DSLR and a 70-200 lens. Found it to be pretty good. So far used it for short exposures of no more than 5 secs.

Post by kochu »

There is an article in June issue of Sky & Telescope how to make a tracking camera mount.
