Has this galaxy collision been captured on film or picture?

I highly think not for video. For such a collision, it would take "eons" for it to completely merge into 1 body. However, a picture could be taken as they are in the midst of attracting each other.

There are plenty shots of interacting galaxies taken by the Hubble telescope. A simple search in the google and you will find them.

*shameless Spitzer plug*

There are also tons of pics from Spitzer of galaxies interacting. And they show regions of stellar growth!
